Class II is the largest that should be put on a Matrix. It will allow towing trailers up to 2,500 lbs, and a "tongue weight" of up to 250 lbs (tongue weight defines the downward pressure on the receiver--a number that's important if you're using the hitch for a bike rack). There aren't that many available though, so going with a Class I hitch is the best bet. It allows up to 2000 lbs towed and 200 lbs tongue weight.

Since even a 4-bike rack shouldn't be more than 120-140 lbs, a Class I hitch is all you'll need. Plus, it's a little lighter and easier to install--on the Matrix, it's just a matter of bolting it into holes on the frame that are factory-drilled.

They sell nifty metal bars for this purpose. They're adjustable for length to fit any bike. One end clamps around the stem and the other end clamps around the seatpost, so it makes a crossbar like a boy's bike. They cost from $15 to $25 at most bike shops.

Here's an example: http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=600071&subcategory=60001022&brand=&sku=10637&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Car%20Rack%20Accessories

Go to RackAttack.com.
Locate your vehicle type and look up the brands they stock (Thule and yakima). Then it is a matter of preference for which type of rack you want to use.

Usually, these come with the trailer. Maybe you can contact the manufacturer of your trailer and order one. If not, you can probably go to your local hardware store and find something or make something that will work.
